of Christ-Sufficient Living

9 Marks of Christ-sufficient Living

Connection: With God

Daily – Relationship (living my life with God)

Do I interact with God daily through Bible reading and prayer?

(Jesus said) Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  (John 15:4)

Frequent – Repentance (turning my eyes toward God)

Do I regularly repent of my sins and accept God’s forgiveness through Christ?

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.  (Acts 3:19)

Increasing – Obedience (expressing my love for God)

Do I follow God’s instructions as an expression of my love for Him?

(Jesus said) Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.  He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. (John 14:21)

Connection:  With the Church

Daily – Fellowship (joined to God’s people)

Do I have daily, meaningful interaction with other believers?

But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.  (Hebrews 3:13)

Frequent Gathering (worshipping with God’s people)

Do I regularly participate in the weekly gathering of the church?

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing. (Hebrews 10:25)

Increasing – Accountability  (responding to God through His people)

Do I have one or two fellow believers with whom I am honest about my life and who supportme in my walk with Christ?

Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  (James 5:16)

Connection:  With my Family and the World

Daily – Example (showing God to my family and others)

Do I live my life as a reflection of God’s love?

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.  (I Peter 2:12)

Frequent – Service (helping my family and others in God’s Name)

Do I regularly use my time, talents and resources in serving others?

You, my brothers, were called to be free.  But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.  (Galatians 5:13)

Increasing – Influence (inspiring my family and others to love God)

Do I share God’s heart for those who don’t know Him?

Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men.  (II Corinthians 5:11)
